The CHCT Church Tours Programme for the 2013 is completed and once again we will be making visits to all four corners of the county. This will be our 30th year of church tours and remarkably we have never visited over half of these churches before. To see a list of all the churches we have visited since 1984 please click here.
If you would like a poster to see or print off a list of all the tours please click here. Please pass this information on to your friends and fellow church enthusiasts. If you would like a booking form and details of the joint trip to Chichester Cathedral with Revd. Dr. Lynne Broughton and the Cambridgeshire Association for Local History Please click here.
This year we will once again have our two expert guides to enhance our Sunday afternoon visits. They are our long serving and always full of information, Revd. Dr Lynne Broughton, who is an expert on church furnishing and symbolism, and once again this year she is joined by Dr. John Maddison, is an invaluable expert in church history and architecture.
Each tour starts at 2.30 pm at the first church named. On arrival at the third and final church, our hosts are kind enough to provide us with tea, and toilets are available. Those who wish to can stay after the tour of the final church, for a short service of Evening Prayer, or join the congregation for their evening service if there is one.
There is no charge for participation in these tours, which are open to all, but those attending are asked to donate generously to the churches visited, and especially for the teas.
Listed below are the dates and the churches we are going to visit in 2013 and some additional information available online, its postcode, the VCH (Victoria County History), a new website with the British Listed Buildings information and other details for each church.
After we have visited the churches you will be able to find a selection of photographs taken at the churches by clicking on the parish name.
Each church dedication has been linked to various websites that will provide you with some background information, this will vary depending on what is available online, if there is any additional information available this will follow the dedication and will be marked add. info.
For your convenience our Secretary has found all the postcodes, they are listed below and on this special flyer
